Group 7 took a trip to New Zealand where they visited the coast. They observed that the coast stretched long distances and had different types of sand, headlands and bays, and some coastal protection. The processes that formed the coastal landforms included erosion and deposition from waves, which caused swash and backwash that deposited materials and longshore drift that transported them. Headlands and bays specifically formed from the continuous erosion of waves, which eroded less resistant rocks faster than more resistant rocks. Coastal management strategies employed included coastal dunes that protected roads from erosion and flooding, and seawalls that protected the coast from strong waves.

By: Haikal[4E4] Hong Jun[4E3] Jasper[4E2] Ryo[4E2] Eric[4E2] What are the characteristics of the coast we visited? The coast stretches over a long distance It has different kinds of sand It has headlands and bays It has some form of coastal protection What are the processes that lead to the formation of the coastal landforms observed? vEROSION & DEPOSITION of the waves have caused the coastal landform. The swash and backwash causes deposition on the coast. At the same time, the longshore drift transport these deposited materials along the What are the processes that lead to the formation of the coastal landforms observed?
HEADLANDS & BAYS are formed
by the continuous erosion of the waves approaching the coast. Due to the difference in the resistance of rocks, the less resistance rocks erodes away faster than the more resistance rocks. Hence, headlands and bays are formed. How successful are the coastal management strategies employed? COASTAL DUNES act as a barrier along the coast which protects the roads against coastal erosion and flooding from waves.
SEAWALLS were also built along the
coasts to protect the coast against strong waves. Thx Photographer Designer Leader Scribe
