C ourse D escription
This course deals with a study of selected

topics in mathematics and their applications in

advanced courses in engineering and other
allied sciences. It covers the study of complex
numbers and complex variables, Laplace and
inverse Laplace transforms, power series,
Fourier series, Fourier transforms, z-transforms,
power series solution of ordinary differential
equations, and partial differential equations.
4 units lec = 4 hours lec (per week)
Prerequisite: Differential Equations

methods of solutions in advanced
mathematics
develop abilities on how to apply the

Requirem ents
Every meeting, each student must bring at

least 10 pieces of bond paper (8 by 11

) for any seatwork or quiz (may not be
announced by the instructor). A front page
is not necessary. Students are expected to
write legibly.
Assignments must be written in engineering
lettering form on bond papers of the same
size as stated previously. Maintain a 1-inch
imaginary margin on each side. Again, a
front page is not necessary.
