to Learn How to be Prepared for Disasters and Emergencies
Students Participating in STEP Program
TOMAH, Thursday, March 12, 2015 Nearly 75 fifth grade students at LaGrange Elementary School in
Tomah will learn how to be prepared in the event of a disaster or emergency during an event at the school
on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
The students are participating in the STEP (Student Tools for Emergency Planning) program. The statewide
program teaches 5th graders how to be prepared for disasters, how to assemble an emergency kit, and how
to develop an emergency plan with their families. The 2015 STEP program is supported by grants from
AT&T and the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation.
Students will hear from officials from Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM), Monroe County
Emergency Management and AT&T, as well as State Rep. Nancy VanderMeer.
