The Pledge of Allegiance is symbolic to


the United States and is recited at
various events an at the beginning of
the school day in honor of out great
nation

Objective
Student will learn to recite the Pledge of
Allegiance to the United States Flag in unison

Assessment Evidence
After the students has been given some brief history on the Pledge of Allegiance and
have read each line of the pledge to some recognition, they will be place in groups of 2-4
student to learn to recite the pledge.

Opening Hook
Since the class is exploring customs, symbols, and celebrations of America, the teacher
will hand each student a small United States Flag upon entering the classroom and the
Star Spangle Banner will be playing softly in the classroom. To aid in learning, the Pledge
of Allegiance will be displayed on the overhead projector and copy of the pledge will be
provided to each student.

Instructional/Strategies/Activities
-Have students color a picture of the United States Flag
-Guide the student in learning and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
-Model and articulate the words of the Pledge of Allegiance to assist students in the
learning process.

Material/Resources
1) Miniature Flags 2) Audio Equipment 3) Overhead projector 4) Copies of the pledge

Grouping Patterns
Students will work in heterogeneous group of 2-4 students to learn to recite the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Ending Summary/Reflection

The teacher will summarize the key points of the lesson that were discussed and access
comprehension by conducting question/answer session utilizing 3-4 question related to
the lesson. In closing, the teacher and the class will recite the Pledge of Allegiance
simultaneously before being dismissed.
