Please answer the following six questions. Each of your answers should be 1 page
long; you should have a list of references, all of which have been used in the text of
the paper. You should liberally quote from or at least cite all of the relevant course

1) What is the relation of colonialism and capitalism to globalization?
2) Does McDonalds represent cultural imperialism? Is it thus a negative thing for the world
as a whole?
3) Compare Emmott and Steger as to their explanations of why rich countries are rich and
poor countries are poor in the world today.
4) Discuss low-end globalization.
5) If you were the wise king of a poor, traditional country, would you censor the
internet?
6) Discuss the situation of asylum seekers in Hong Kong.
