Non-Mendelian Inheritance.
Complete punnett squares for the
problems that follow.

1. Monohybrid CrossIncomplete Dominance

In many flowers such as carnations the

heterozygous phenotype shows incomplete
dominance. For example if a dominant red
carnation is crossed with a recessive white
carnation then pink carnations will result from
heterozygous genotypes.
Problem: What are the possible genetic outcomes
from a cross between a homozygous
dominant carnation and a heterozygous
carnation.

2. Monohybrid Cross- Codominance

In dogs there are more than one dominant form

of a gene, this is Codominance . For example if
a dominant brown dog is crossed with a
dominant white dog then brown and white
dogs will result from heterozygous genotypes.
Problem: What are the possible genetic outcomes
from a cross between a homozygous brown
dog and a heterozygous brown and white
dog.

3. Monohybrid CrossIncomplete Dominance

In horses the heterozygous phenotype shows

incomplete dominance. For example if a
dominant brown horse is crossed with a
recessive white horse then cream colored
horses will results from heterozygous
genotypes.
Problem: What are the possible genetic outcomes
from a cross between a homozygous
recessive horse and a heterozygous horse.

4. Monohybrid Cross- Codominance

In cows there are more than one dominant form

of a gene, this is Codominance . For example if
a dominant red cow is crossed with a
dominant white cow then roan cow (small
patches of red and white) will result from
heterozygous genotypes.
Problem: What are the possible genetic outcomes
from a cross between a homozygous white
cow and a heterozygous roan cow.
