Queen Elizabeth I
Elizabeth once said, I do not want a husband who honors me as a queen, if he
does not love me as a woman. This was one of the many important quotes from Queen
Elizabeth. She was the last Tudor Monarch that survived birth from her mother, the
second wife of King Henry VIII. Unlike other female royalties, Queen Elizabeth was one
of the very few females to rule a Kingdom, which her father believed was impossible for
a woman to do. Yet, she was able to prove her father and many people wrong, by
showing that even a woman can be a successful ruler.
Elizabeth Tudor was born on September 17, 1533. She was named after her
grandmother, Elizabeth of York. When Elizabeth was one, a man named Jacques Carter
found an unknown land, which we now call Canada. When she was a little girl, her
father did not care about her and made the servants take care of her. Her birth mother
was beheaded by King Henry VIII because she could not bear him a son.
Without loving parents, one of the servants, Kat Ashley, took care of her. Not only
was she like a mother figure, but she was also her tutor and the greatest influence on
Elizabeths life. Kat taught her writing, math, French, Greek, and English. Life was hard
for Elizabeth as a child and throughout adulthood because her sister, Mary, disliked her.
While Mary was queen, Elizabeth made a decision to keep a low profile in order to stay

alive. As she was next in line for the throne, it wasnt until Marys death that finally led
Elizabeth to become the next Queen of England.
During her reign, she signed the Treaty of Leith. This treaty brought peace to
Scotland, France, and England. Queen Elizabeth was a delightful and fair queen unlike
her sister, Mary.

Mary wanted to restore Catholicism to England. The easiest way was

to kill all of the Protestants, who were not Catholics. When Marys reign ended,
Elizabeth quickly revoked Marys laws by allowing religious freedom. Elizabeth was a
strong ruler and provided stability for England during her 44 year-reign as Queen.
Elizabeth made many important contributions. She established religious freedom
for England. She was a role model to all females because she proved that women are
just as capable and smart as men. Elizabeth showed the world that women can be
stronger and better rulers than men.
