Product Redesign Plan

Product Name: WinCo Macaroni and Cheese


Target Group: Children from 2-12 and their parents. Teenagers 13-18 and

college students age 19-24.

Brief History: WinCo started back in 1967 when two Boise businessmen

founded a discount store in Boise, Idaho. The then Waremart was a no-frills,
warehouse-style grocery store focusing on low prices. Throughout the years
they have always tried to keep their prices low even after the name change in
1999 to WinCo Foods. WinCo values their low prices and loyalty of their
customers by providing quality products.

Big Idea: In redesigning their mac and cheese it is important to get rid of the

common and over used bowl and spoon to create a package that is eye catching
and geared for the child in everyone. The creamy goodness that is associated
with mac and cheese is already known to all, so I want to focus on the
memories and experiences that come with it. Customers should associate mac
and cheese with fun from their childhood, even with something as simple as
creating shapes out of the noodles. Branding the box with an image of a pice of
macaroni art will bring attention to the WinCo brand. Mac and cheese should
be associated with great memories and the fun of being a kid. With the focus
on the child in everyone the packaging will look more appealing and be able to
attract more than just children but their parents and young adults as well.
