ENG101 College Writing Seminar
For this week, I'd like to give you folks the opportunity to do some prewriting for the
introductions to your final portfolio (which I will be talking about more later in the week).
So, in brief, explain how the essays, weekly discussion postings, and writing exercises
have helped (or not helped) your development of certain transferable skills (ex. writing,
brainstorming, critical thinking, analyzing, rhetorical strategies, etc.), your growing
academic interests at Endicott, and your work in the course? For example, are some of
the things you've learned applicable to other classes or things within your major, current
career, or possible future career? Also, what is one thing you found
most beneficial about the class and what is one thing that was not beneficial. Briefly
explain.

The essay writing has been very interesting. I was able to get a better understanding of
what is required for scholastic writing especially in the rhetorical writing. It took some
adjusting of my regular writing style in order to address all the requirements for the
assignments. The expectations in the class writing are so varied from what is required in
the office however because office writing is so business-specific... I am not sure how
much it will help in my current role at the office but I believe the concepts may lead me
to enhance my writing content where possible. One thing that I have found to be very
beneficial is that writing has to change for each professor. Writing is not a black and
white answer and could prove to be very subjective based on the professors
requirements, expectations and personal writing preference. For me the least beneficial
was the timing of the class although the information was valuable the class, it came at
the tail end of my college experience. I will state however that once I move into my
Masters program the information gathered in this class would definitely benefit me
especially in my thesis.
