Creation of the world

1 In the
beginning God
created the
heavens and
earth.

2 The earth was deserted and

empty, darkness was over the
surface of the deep, and Spirit
of God was moving over the
water.

The first day

3 Then God said: Let there light; and there was light.

4 And God saw that the light was good, and God separated
the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day,

and the darkness he called
Night. And there was evening
and there was morning, the first

6 And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of

the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters
which were under the firmament from the waters which
were above the firmament. And so it was. 8 And God called
the firmament heaven. And the evening and the morning
were the second day.
