Tigard High School National Honor Society

Membership Contract 2014-2015


As a member of Tigard High National Honor Society, you are expected to respect and uphold the standards of National
Honor Society and Tigard High School. By adhering to the responsibilities set forth, each member has the opportunity to
graduate with NHS honors. As a member, each student is required to complete 65 service hours and an individually designed service
project with a 10-hour minimum time commitment (and a maximum of 15 hours) that counts towards the required 65 service hours. The
failure to comply with NHS standards may lead to the dismissal from NHS and the honors that come with NHS membership.

Responsibilities
Each National Honor Society member is expected to:
Maintain a minimum 3.6 cumulative G.P.A (periodic grade checks by the NHS advisor will be performed).
Attend every meeting on time (every three tardies triggers a strike).
Check the THS National Honor Society Facebook page regularly to view and sign up for upcoming service activities
An absence from a meeting will result in a strike unless the member contacts their secretary that day. The NHS Advisor will
address a members frequent absences, regardless of reason.
Complete 65 in-club hours of diverse service to the community throughout the school year.
Sign and turn in this contract by 9-30-2014.
Pay a $15 membership fee to the THS bookkeeper by the end of the day on 10-16-2014.
Complete the project completion form within one week of the individual service project's completion. Final deadline for project
proposal forms are the following: 3-1-2015 for seniors and 4-1-2015 for juniors.
Projects MUST be prior approved by the NHS Project Officer: Corey Fusick.. IF approval is NOT received and the project is
performed, it may be rejected.
Juniors: Turn in completed hours by the end of the day on 5-30-2015.
Seniors: Turn in completed hours by the end of the day on 5-1-2015.
IF you are unable to attend an event you signed up for, it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement.
YOU are fully responsible to attend any event you sign up for. It is expected that you are on time, perform the duties well and
document your time there.
At any time during the year, an NHS office or advisor may request evidence of your hours and/or project.

Failure to meet the above responsibilities and deadlines will result in a strike- upon the third strike, you will be dismissed from National
Honor Society.
