Swinger Experiment
Question/Problem:
How will the length of the swinger determine how many swings will occur in
15 seconds?
Hypothesis:
My hypothesis is that when the swinger is longer it will swing less times.
Experiment
Materials: 20 groszy coin, string, paper clip, swinger structure, data sheet, pencil, tape,
blue swinger holder with clips, chair, table
Procedure: First we arranged all the materials and started our experiment with the
shortest swinger which had 17 centimeters. There were swingers with the lengths that are listed
below. the range is from 17 to 200. After that we chose 3 students to be helpers and we changed
every 3 trials, one was a getter the getters job was to get the swingers ready to go the other
person was the hanger he hung up all of the used swingers on a number chart to see how much
swings the made the third person was the person that put the swinger and let it go when the
timer started the rest of the students told the the third person to put the pendulum higher or
lower so the pendulum was parallel to the ground they also counted the swings with the helpers at
the end a person in each table group wrote down the data on the sheet.

4 swings
Conclusion:
After conducting the experiment i realized my hypothesis was correct, because the data that I
collected proved that for example 17 cm = 17 swings and 200 cm = 5 swings. That is part of the
data i collected with my classmates. We could make the experiment even better by controlling all of
the variables. because then this experiment would be better and more CONTROLLED. And our
answers and data would be more accurate.I only wonder if the gravity or air condition changes
with the length?
