I

have grown as an effective reader by finding important details in books. To

improve my skills even more, I need to read more books over the summer and find
important ideas in the books. An example of me demonstrating finding important
details in books is during the reading of Fahrenheit 451 were I could find
meaningful quotes. When I was in 7th grade, we wrote mini journal entries about the
book we were reading at that time. Then we had to write down key details and other
important information. Comparing one of the journal entries about the book about
Anne Frank to a graphic organizer of Fahrenheit 451, I could see that I found a lot
more details in the graphic organizer that I did while reading Anne Frank. I have
grown so much since 6th grade. From reading books just to get them done, to trying
to find important information in the books themselves, I would say that I have
gotten much better as a reader.
