Reflection
My portfolio begins with my resume and there is not a huge amount of thought that went
into those because most resumes are pretty standard however I feel that is important because it
does not just highlights my academic accomplishments but also those outside of school. The next
piece of writing would be my open form from freshman year and the reason I added this one
specifically because it was one of the very first encounters I had with open from writing and It
was a part of writing I had never experienced before. Usually I would have to force myself to
write because it was always assignments or subjects that were uninteresting. On top of that the
subject matter was really personal and important to me and overall it was just a very needed
experience. It remains my favorite poem or any piece of writing for that matter to this day. I also
added two PA’s to the portfolio. One of them is this semester's PA and the other one is from
sophomore year. The reason for this was to show my growth as a writer in terms of analyzing
other pieces of literature and contributing to the overall body of work because not only is it about
3 years of growth as a writer but this PA was the first one I had ever passed on the first try. It was
not just because I am a better writer but it was also because I feel like I applied myself more this
time around compared to all the other PA’s so I think that also speaks to my overall growth in
terms of my work ethic and overall attitude towards school/writing. The final piece of my
portfolio are annotations for Frankenstien from junior year. The reason I added these annotations
was because of how much I really liked the book and it also reminded me that I actually do like
to read. The issue was not me, it was the books I was reading. I had little to no interest in them. I
also really enjoyed the idea that you didn’t really know who the monster was. Was it the
‘monster’ for being hideous or was it Victor Frankenstien for abandoning his creation. I feel like
overall in the last four years I've grown so much not just as a writer or as a student but as a
person. Obviously a large part of that comes from age but I think it was also because I tried so
many different things and new experiences on my own within such a short amount of time that it
just really forced change and growth. The pandemic also had a huge impact but for better or
worse it made me the person I am now. One thing I realized about myself in these four years is
that I really like poetry and i'm not super sure why but there's just this satisfaction I get from
dressing up a topic, train of thought, or just words in general through figurative language and it
becomes something more than just words or ideas. In a sense it makes them come alive and gives
them emotion which I find pretty cool. I know this is just highschool and its only a small part
compared to the rest of our lives but when I think back to my freshman year self it feels almost
