Dear Aviation Tech Advisory Committee Members,

We had a great opening week-and-a-half here at the Clark County Skills Center. Forty-nine juniors
and seniors are enrolled in the two sessions of our new program and the students seem to be fully
engaged. They genuinely appear to be enjoying the opportunity to learn the key skills that will prepare
them to enter the aviation industry!
Some highlights so far have included visits from Theresa Nelson of AeroMx, Marlin Martin from the
Pearson Field Education Center and Doug Edwards, retired Air Force and Horizon pilot. Theresa had the
students spell-bound as she shared her experiences in civil aviation that began for her as a 16 year-old
student pilot. Marlin facilitated our first lab after my introductory aerodynamics lesson and masterfully
orchestrated the students' initiation to miniature gliders! Doug relayed his experiences as a 46 year
military and civilian aviator then focused on inspiring the students to develop and follow their dreams in
one of the myriad of aviation careers available from Pilot to Air Traffic Controller to Mechanic to
Aerospace Engineer and anything in between.
I am also honored to announce that several more distinguished members of our local aviation
community have agreed to join our Committee and help us build a great program for these young men
and women. Let's welcome, Doug and Marlin, along Mark Bennett, Garin Tentschert, and Keith
Cunningham!

Respectfully,
Mr. Rob Reinebach
