Guided Reading groups- POSSE strategy (predict, organize, search, summarize, evaluate)
Day 1

Pre-teach vocabulary
Word work- write words, magnetic letters, beading, or stamping
Talk about definitions and examples
Picture walk through book
Complete KWL chart- what I know about this topic and what I wonder about this topic

Day 2

Review previous days work (vocabulary, what we know, what we wonder)

Predict what the reading is going to be about
Organize our ideas- what we know and what we predict
Take turns reading the book
Review predictions and talk about who predicted correctly

Day 3
Re-read the text
Search for main ideas in the text
Day 4
Re-read the text if needed
Summarize- summarize what the text is about, discuss main ideas
Evaluate- discuss what we learned, new vocabulary, and plan for future learning
