Child-Centred and Holistic Approach

I have a background in Early Childhood Education
so, naturally, my philosophy is child centred and a
holistic approach. I believe that when I am teaching
children, I am teaching the whole child, their
present, past and future. They have a network of
family, friends, community and culture that informs
their learning. Each child has their own experiences,
knowledge and skills that they bring to the
classroom. We can not just focus on one area, we
need to understand the whole child.
When I was growing up in an inner city school, I
had a positive and uplifting school experience. I was
given many opportunities to learn, play and
experience life. My background plays a huge part in
my educational approach. I made a mini me to
present the different areas of my philosophy of
education.

Holding their hands and

pushing them forward
As a teacher, my two hands can do magical things. On
one hand, I have the privilege to hold the hands of my
students to experience new things in their life. My
classroom would be a hands-on, exploration and
collaboration approach. Students will be invited to
learn by touching, doing and recreating. I can scaffold
them in my class to learn new skills and participate in
new experiences. On the other hand, I value each child
as a person. In my class I would help them build selfawareness, self-esteem and push them to reach their
potential. I will know each of my students personally to
understand their strengths and know their space for
improvement. I will be there to support my students
and help them be successful, in big and small things.

Experiencing milestones and

stepping forward in life
As a teacher, there is a special area that I get to
experience that no other profession could, and that is
being able to experience many milestones with my
students. When they are in my class, they are learning,
growing and will experience many new life events. I
have the opportunity to be there to experience these
events and support them through it. I am there to
experience real life with them. I also have the privilege
to connect with the families and share theses milestones
with them. I feel that it is also important to help my
students step forward in their life, go to new places,
literally and metaphorically, to expand their horizon
and critical thinking skills.

Feeling loved and become a life

long learner
When students come into my classroom, I want them
to feel loved and cared for. To know that they are
significant in this world and that they are important to
friends and family. My classroom will be a safe and
loving environment, where students can be themselves,
express emotions and learn together. Students will be
able to feel vulnerable, to learn and to experience life. I
want to help my students develop a passion for life and
motivation to preserver in all situations. Students in my
class will build confidence to reach their potential and
be a life long learner.
