SLIDE 4
Know what you're asking for and ask the right question.
In general, we ask three types of questions when we're conducting lessons:
- Comprehension Questions
- Follow-Up Questions and
- Topic Expansion Questions that include
----- describing or narrating questions
----- questions about giving instructions
----- opinion-generating questions and
----- unexpected situations or hypothetical questions

Comprehension questions will help you check if the student understood what he/sh
e read or what is being talked about. We usually ask WH- questions in this part:
who, what, when, and where.
Follow-Up questions are important so you can motivate the student to elaborate f
urther when only single-worded answers were given.
SLIDE 6
Topic expansion questions will help you sustain a lively and meaningful conversa
tion with your student.
Questions that require giving instructions will help your student learn how to g
ive better directions. Directions can vary from going from one place to another
to asking about how he/she make his/her favorite meal.

Opinion-Generating questions will help your student develop his vocabulary and t
he manner in which he/she delivers his/her ideas. Asking about his/her opinion i
s also a good way to know your student better.
Unexpected Situations or hypothetical questions will improve your student s imagin
ation and verbalizing his/her thoughts.
