The Cube

Population: Adolescents in Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center


Age: 12-17
Purpose: Residents will develop teamwork and cooperation, increase group communication,
and enhance problem-solving skills.
Supplies:

12, 3 foot long PVC pipes

8, 3 way corner piece

1, empty plastic bucket

Process:

Put together the cube and place one corner of the cube inside the empty bucket

Residents must enter through a top space and exit through a bottom space

If the cube falls over before the residents successfully exits the cube they must start over

Residents can use each other for support in any way

Continue steps until tower becomes unstable and falls

Discussion Questions:

What was difficult?

What was easy?

How did using your peers help/ hurt?

How can this be related to drug use/ poor decision making?

Adaptations:
Have residents hold hands in a linecan enter the cube through bottom spaces
Blindfoldedlistening to directions of peers
