System R was designed and developed over a period of 1974-79 at IBM San Jose Research Center. It is a prototype and its purpose was to demonstrate that it is possible to build a Relational System that can be used in a real life environment to solve real life problems, with performance at least comparable to that of existing system. Can you explain the different maturity levels in a staged representation? There are five maturity levels in a staged representation as shown in the following figure. Maturity Level 1 (Initial): In this level everything is adhoc. Development is completely chaotic with budget and schedules often exceeded. In this scenario we can never predict quality. Maturity Level 2 (Managed): In the managed level basic project management is in place. But the basic project management and practices are followed only in the project level. Maturity Level 3 (Defined): To reach this level the organization should have already achieved level 2. In the previous level the good practices and process were only done at the project level. But in this level all these good practices and processes are brought to the organization level. There are set and standard practices defined at the organization level which every project should follow. Maturity Level 3 moves ahead with defining a strong, meaningful, organizational approach to developing products. An important distinction between Maturity Levels 2 and 3 is that at Level 3, processes are described in more detail and more rigorously than at Level 2 and are at an organization level. Maturity Level 4 (Quantitatively measured): To start with, this level of organization should have already achieved Level 2 and Level 3. In this level, more statistics come into the picture. Organization controls the project by statistical and other quantitative techniques. Product quality, process performance, and service quality are understood in statistical terms and are managed throughout the life of the processes. Maturity Level 4 concentrates on using metrics to make decisions and to truly measure whether progress is happening and the product is becoming better. The main difference between Levels 3 and 4 are that at Level 3, processes are qualitatively predictable. At Level 4, processes are quantitatively predictable.     I have known S.Chandana Sri almost for the past four years and have handled her
    Thermodynamics & Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids, Design of Machines and
    Production Planning & Control. In addition I have been her class counselor for the same
    period. Based on her remarkable grasping power and diligence, I would rank her among
    the top ten percent in her department.
    The quest to show excellence in all the work she does is her most important
    quality. This admirable aspect of her motivates her into giving her everything in any task
    she undertakes. Her quick grasping power of the concepts always comes to the forefront
    during the question and answers sessions after lectures. It also highlighted the ability in
    her, to effectively combine the theoretical aspects of the subject with its practical
    applications. I constantly observe her to work through the lab sessions also to give out the
    best optimized code for her coursework programs. Hence I have no inhibitions to
    recommend her.
    Her seminar on CNC Machines was a fine exhibition of Chandanas skill in
    putting across the fundamentals of the subject to the audience. Besides demonstrating her
    fluency in the language, it also revealed her inclination to make sure that her point was
    fully comprehended by one and all. An immaculate sense of punctuality saw her submit
    all her assignments and records well in time in a neat manner. Active participation in
    cultural activities makes her one of the very few with remarkable all round credentials. In
    view of the above, it is clear that, she has all that it takes to excel in her graduate studies.
