Jessica co-taught a science/social studies lesson about

help ing the community. Jessica accessed prior knowledge
by asking students what they know about plants and the
environment. She added the answers to the Plant Schema
Poster. The 2 Kindergarten classes were eager to answer
the questions. The book Green City was read aloud

sheets if
necessary)

where a comunity worked together to make a beautiful

neighborhood using plants. Jessica displayed 4 short
videos on team work and how plants are so important in
our lives. Jessica used informal assessment by using
questions and student observations.Jessica's class
donated a plant to the ladies in the cafeteria for all their
hard work. The custodian visited and received a plant
from the other kindergarten class. This lesson concluded
her unit. Great co-teaching and planning together.

Suggestions

I would use index size cards to put on the schema chart.

It will be easier for the students to read.
