This student has Rett's syndrome, which impairs her ability to learn, move and speak. Most of the lessons that my mentor teacher plans involve actively moving or sharing knowledge. For a science lesson, students are to come up with an animal and make a KWL chart. This student would hold the piece of paper while her partner shared the words that were on the chart.

In the classroom I am observing for my 60 observation hours, I have a
student with Retts syndrome. This syndrome impairs the students
ability to learn, move and speak. Most of the lessons that my mentor teacher plans involve actively moving or sharing knowledge with peers. Due to the fact that this student has Retts syndrome, most of the lessons are differentiated. For a science lesson, students are to come up with an animal and make a KWL (Know, Want to Know and Learned) chart with a partner and share with the class. Instead of allowing students to choose a partner, I would have partners chosen, therefore the student with Retts syndrome would have a chance to participate. Then, when students share with the class what they came up with on their chart, this disabled student would hold the piece of paper while her partner shared the words that were on the chart.
