Ashley Murphy cJmpleted 120 observation hours in kindergarten at Central Elementary

in Nevada, IA. During this time Miss Murphy was able to work with students one-on-one and in
small groups on math and literacy skills. She also helped with teacher tasks, such as creating and
updating bulletin boards, producing a monthly classroom calendar for parents, and getting
materials ready for students to use in future lessons.
Miss Murphy planned and taught one whole group literacy lesson with 19 kindergarten
students as well. During Miss Murphy's whole group lesson, she was very prepared. She
brought hands-on materials to engage the students and conducted a gradual release lesson. Miss
Murphy modeled her expectations with the whole group and then had partners work together to
generate their own product. During partner work, Miss Murphy walked around the classroom
and worked with several different groups of students.
Miss Murphy proved to be reliable as she arrived each day on time. If Miss Murphy was
going to miss a day, she let me know ahead of time. Miss Murphy was willing to take on any
duty asked of her. Even though Miss Murphy is in high school, she showed great maturity when
working with students. She has a positive and calm demeanor and was well liked by the
students.
Miss Murphy is excited about teaching and has a vision for her teaching career. She has
