At Central Elementary, I have been observing a kindergarten teacher. In her classroom,

she finds it extremely helpful to use technology in her lesson plans. Due to the fact that the
children are in kindergarten, they enjoy interactive lessons. Therefore, the mentor teacher I am
observing chooses to have technology and student interaction in her lessons. The students have to
learn important words, such as sight words and their colors. In the classroom, the teacher uses
YouTube to keep her students active in her lessons teaching colors. There is a YouTube channel
that has multiple songs about colors. Not only do they have examples of different items that
would be recognizable for kindergartener, the songs also spell out the color. For example, the
children sing the song Red to help learn that color. Included in the song are examples such as
fire trucks are red, stop signs are red too, r-e-d to help the students remember what color red is.
Technology has proven to be extremely valuable in the lessons that are taught to these
kindergarteners.
