Official measures of Unemployment in

India
National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO)
conducts survey for measuring unemployment in
India once in every five years.
In order to measure unemployment status on an
annual basis, Employment-Unemployment Survey is
being conducted by Labour Bureau since 2009.
Besides this, a quick quarterly enterprise level
surveys are also conducted by Labour Bureau to
capture the changes in the employment
unemployment scenario at much shorter interval.

Changing Technology
Demand for highly skilled labour
Global Competition
Illiteracy

Over 70% of total labour force is illiterate or educated below primary level
Agriculture backward farming 70 % population depend on it

Effects of unemployment

Mental stress
Loss of self esteem
Directly linked to poverty
At social level
Civil unrest
Law and order problem ( naxalist , thefts etc)
