Writing Teachers

Great News!
I am proud to announce and invite you and your students to participate in the
Narrative Compositions for first nine weeks contest. This contest, will begin this
week, and continue for the remainder of the school year. This is an excellent
opportunity for your students to showcase their writing samples from the first
nine weeks. Each teacher will choose a first and second place winner from their
classroom for the narrative writing from the first nine weeks, and one honorable
mention. Once you have chosen a winner; I will collect all the samples from each
grade level and choose one winner from each grade level to represent Raymonds
Writing Club. The winner will be displayed on our In Progress Writing Board for
the remainder of the second nine weeks. The Grand Prize winner will receive a
pencil, a certificate, and his or her composition read on the announcements. All
Honorable Mentions will receive a certificate.
I would like to ask that you please share this opportunity with your students by
announcing this contest in class. The best way to participate, although not
required, would be to include the contest as an important assignment in your
class. If need be, a rubric will be provided so that each writing piece will be
scored fairly. I will also send letters home to parent asking permission to publish
their childs work on the bulletin board.
