Practice Behaviors:
Use research evidence to inform practice; Use practice to inform scientific inquiry
The above competency is related to SW4810 Research Methods and Statistic course. The course
is to teach social work students how to use research evidence to inform practice and use practice
to inform scientific inquiry.
During this course, students were introduced to how to use Statistical Package for the Social
Science (SPSS) to analyze data with simple instruction. We were given two major assignments;
the first was to analyze a social problem in the United States that we are concerned about, using
evidence-based practice and peered reviewed literature. While the second paper was to analyze
and interpret data from SPSS.
The attached paper is the first paper that analyzes a peer-reviewed article using research evidence
to inform practice. In this course, I learned how to conduct research and how to interpret survey
data.
