I chose the above competency for SW3710 Social Welfare and Policy course I took in Fall 2013.
The course is to introduce social work students to the various social welfare and social policies in
the United States and their policies.
During this course, I learned about various welfare policies I never knew existed. In the course,
students were given two major assignments; the first was to analyze social welfare we are
interested in and its policy. The second was to compare and contrast the social welfare we chose
with a social welfare of another western country.
The attached paper analyzed Medicare health insurance for the elderly in the United States, in
which I analyzed the shortcomings of Medicare insurance for older adults.
