Jadu the wonder boy

Village tales-5

.
During this summer,
which was unusually
hot ,with the sun
pouring its heat
everyone became
more and more
thirsty. There was no
water in the village
pond and the river
was far, everyone
was worried.

One day, the

mischievous Jadu
carried his
fishing net to his
fathers field
lying parched
and dry on the
hill, his friends
went with him.
The sun glared
and birds looked
upon them wide
eyed.-

Jadu dug a pit in the

centre of the field
and spread several
layers of the net in it,
He covered it with
soil. His friends were
watching, He told
them that now they
need to fill this with
water from the river.
Everyone was
excited.

All of them carried water

and filled the pit with
its net, with water, they
would do this everyday
and the roots gulped the
water. Slowly life came
back to the soil, plants,
animals and even the
proud peacock said
thank you.
Now they decided to
seek help from
elephants and fill up the
pond, with water of the
river. so off marched
Jadu to the elephant
leader.

The elephants were

also tired .They were
resting, so with the
help of a drum Jadu
woke them up and
told his problem, The
elephants said that
they would take
turns and fill up the
pond very soon. Jadu
promised to bring
bananas to refresh
them when the work
is done.

The elephant s
taking turns filled
up the village
pondin one day and
two nights. Jadu
gave them bananas
which he and his
friends had
collected from the
forest and some
cardamoms too.

The clouds
greeted Jadu and
his friends work
with a lot of rain.
Life came back to
normal and all
was well.

This is how Jadu got the nameWonder Boy
