CONNECTING ROD

Connecting rod is used to convert reciprocating motion into

rotary motion.
The connecting rods are usually manufactured by forging
process.
The material mostly used for connecting rods is carbon steel.
The length of the connecting rod ( l ) depends upon the ratio
of l / r, where r is the radius of crank.
the ratio l / r is generally kept as 4 to 5.
Connecting rod is generally made of i section because of i
section will have more section modulus for given area.
