browserisMozillaFirefox2.0orlater.Notallbrowsersaresupported,socheckwithyour
administratorifyouhavequestions.
FollowthesegeneralguidelineswhenusingtheZimbraWebClientwithinabrowser:

ThebrowsersBackbuttontakesyoutothepreviouspageyouwereviewing.Youcan
alsousetheForwardbutton.

DonotusethebrowsersReload(Refresh)button.Doingsowillrestartyoursession.

Logging In
OpenabrowserwindowandentertheURLprovidedbyyouradministrator.Inmostcases,
Advancedisthedefaultclientandis
openedautomaticallywhenyoulogin.
Beforeyouenteryournameand
password,youcanswitchtothe
standardwebclientortothemobile
client.

YoucanchangethedefaultfromyourPreferencesGeneraltabafteryoulogin.

Note:Ifyouleaveyourwebclientopeninyourbrowserbutdonotaccessyour
mailboxforaperiodoftime,yoursessionmaytimeoutandthenyouwillneedto
logbackin.
Ifyoudonotwantthedefaultclienttype,changetheversiondisplayed.

If Your Session Expires


Yoursystemmaybeconfiguredwithasessiontimeoutthatautomaticallylogsyououtifyour
sessionisinactiveforapreconfiguredperiodoftime.
Youradministratormayalsosetamaximumsessionlength,e.g..,amaximumamountoftime
thatyoucanbeloggedin,regardlessofwhetheranyactivityoccursornot.
Therefore,youmayperiodicallyseetheloginscreen,evenifyouarealreadyloggedin.Ifthat
happens,simplyloginagainandcontinueworking.

How Do Conversations Work?


TheConversationviewdisplaysyourmessagesgroupedbysubject,asshownbelow.Because
allmessagesinaconversationhavethesamesubject,thesubjectdisplaysonlyonceinthe
conversationviewpane.Allmessagesrelatedtotheconversationaredisplayed,evenifthey
arestoredindifferentfolders.
ThenumberofmessagesintheconversationisdisplayedinparenthesesintheSizecolumn
(afterthesubject).Eachconversationconsistsoftheoriginalmessageandallreplies.
Conversationscontainingunreadmessagesareshowninbold.

Ifaconversationincludesthreeemailmessages,oneofthosemessagescouldbeinyourInbox,
yourreply(whichisalsopartoftheconversation)willmostlikelybeinyourSentfolder,and
anothermessagecouldbeinacustomfolder.
Ifyousearchforemailmessagesandonemessageisfoundthatmatchesyoursearch,butthat
messageisinaconversationwithseveralothermessagesthatdonotmatchyoursearch,the
entireconversationandallmessageswithinitarelistedunderthesearchresults.Whenyou
opentheconversation,onlymessagesthatmatchyoursearchcriteriaarehighlighted.
Thesameconversationmayappeartoexistinmorethanonefolder.Thiscanhappenifthe
emailmessagesareindifferentfolders,eitherbecauseyoumovedthemthere,oryouapplied
afilteringrulethatputthemtherewhentheywerereceived.

Deleting an Appointment or Meeting


Ifyoucreatedameeting,youcancancelordeleteit.Ifyoucreatedarecurringmeeting,you
candeleteoneoccurrenceortheentireseriesofmeetings.Anemailissenttoattendeesto
informthemofthecancelledmeeting.

Onlytheoriginatorofanappointmentcancanceltheappointment.Attendees
cancanceltheappointmentontheirowncalendars,butattendeescannotcancel
theentireappointment.

Deleting a Meeting
Youcandeleteameetingintwoways:
1. RightclickonthemeetinginanycalendarviewandselectCancel.

Using Quick-Search
Thesearchfeatureisapowerfultool.Itprovidesaquickshortcuttosearchingwithout
keywords.Forexample,tofindallemailcontainingthewordtimanywhereintheSubject
line,To,From,Cc,orBcclines,messagebody,orfileattachment,simplytypetim intothe
searchboxandclickSearch.
Youcanenteranyvalue,suchasaword,firstname,lastname,phonenumber,ordomain
name.Tosearchforcontactsinyouraddressbooks,thesearchfieldmustcontainawhole
wordornumberstring.Forexample,tosearchcontactsbyphonenumber,youhavetoenter

Youcanshareanyofyourmailfolders,includingtheInboxfolderandsubfolders,withvalid
userswithinyourorganization.Youcannotshareyourmailfolderswithexternalusersor
withthepublic.AcopyofthesharedfolderisputinthegranteesFolderlistonthe
Overviewpane.Whenthefolderisselected,thecontentdisplaysintheContentpane.The
granteedonotneedtologintothegrantorsmailbox.
Granteesthathasthemanagerrolehavefullpermissiontoviewandeditthecontentsofthe
sharedmailfolder,createnewsubfolders,sendemailonthegrantorsbehalf,anddelete
emailmessages.

Scenarios for sharing a mail folder

Yoursalesdepartmentwantsonecentralmailboxforallemailmessagesrequesting
informationaboutyourproduct,andeveryoneinsalesshouldbeabletoviewemail
messagesimmediatelywhentheycomein.Youcangiveeveryoneinthedepartment
permissiontoviewthemailfolderandtheycancopythemessagestotheirmailbox,or
youcangivethempermissiontomanagethemailfolderandtheycanreplyonbehalf
ofthisaddress.

Amanagerisoftenoutoftheofficeanddoesnothavetimetorespondtoheremail
messages.WhenthemanagerdelegatesaccesstoherInboxmailfolder,herassistant

Sharing Address Book Contact Lists
