Art Lesson Plan

Title: Outsider Artist Podcast

Summary:
In lieu of the traditional research paper, students will be creating a 3-minute informative podcast about an outsider
artist of their choice. Students will learn about the various film editing processes and software. At the end of the
project, students will have a podcast festival, and watch each others podcasts. Podcast will be uploaded onto an
online portfolio, where students are able to share their work with their family and track their own progress
throughout the year.
Objectives:
Students will learn the vocabulary and processes for film/podcast editing.
Students will be able to distinguish outsider artists/artwork from traditional artists/artwork.
Students will debate the validity of outsider art and discover a variety of artists and mediums.

Content Standards:
2.3 Develop and refine skill in the manipulation of digital imagery (either still or video).
3.3 Identify and describe trends in the visual arts and discuss how the issues of time, place, and cultural influence are
reflected in selected works of art.
