has been enough for me and so I feel that this is the

right time to leave the band. Malik said. The reason
why Zayn has left the famous One Direction was
because it has been very stressful for Malik and he
wants to be a normal 22 year old who is able to have
lots of free time and private time with no spotlight and
to be able to be relaxed. Zayn Malik said that he
wanted to apologize to the rest of his teammate: Harry
Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall
Horan. After Zayns old band heard about him
apologizing One Direction said they will respect his
choice and understand why he quit and to send all
their love for the future.

White Oklahoma Officer Charged with Black Mans Death

A 73-year-old volunteer officer named Robert
Bates has been charged with manslaughter. The
body camera of the officer shows him and some
other officers chasing down Eric Harris, who
was brought to the ground and shot. This
incident follows a string of shootings of black
people by American officers, which has sparked
worldwide debate and attention. The video, shot
on April 2nd in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was requested
by Harriss family after an intense investigation.
In the video, a gunshot is heard, then a man
says, Oh, I shot him, Im sorry. Harris is
heard yelling, He shot me, he shot me, while
another man dismisses his complaint. Harris
was treated at the scene, but later died of his
injuries in hospital. Bates claims he thought he

thought he drew a Taser, instead of a
handgun. For the second week of the time
of this incident, American shootings of
black men have provoked an outcry and
major controversy. This follows the recent
shooting of an unarmed black man named
Walter Scott, who was shot by an
American officer.

Experimental Vest Could Allow Speech to be Felt

Researchers in the U.S.A are working on a gadget that could some day allow the deaf to hear and understand speech,
not by hearing, but with vibrations. A group of neuroscientists and electrical engineering students are creating a vest at
Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. This team states that they are already having some
success teaching deaf volunteers to recognize some words. The vest works with a phone or tablet app that a person
would speak into. The app would then remove the spoken words from any background noise and convert those words
into vibration patterns sent into the vest. There would be dozens of tiny motors called actuators that would then
vibrate in specific patterns to represent words. With the right training, the brains of deaf people unconsciously learn to
learn to "read" the different vibration patterns and translate the vibration language into words, says the doctoral
student Scott Novich. The first prototype of the vest includes 24 actuators sewn into the back. The team has already
started on another version that would have 40 actuators. This invention was recently introduced at the TED
Technology conference in Vancouver, showing a video of a man born deaf writing words heard through vibrations. He
calls the vest VEST (Versatile Extra-Sensory Transducer).

ANIMAL STORIES
Tatamagouche Fire Department Rescues Pourquoi the Pig
A 200-pound Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, named
Pourquoi, has almost drowned in his flooded
garage on Saturday and he didnt know if he
would make it out alive. The water was up to his
chin, said owner Hanna Hunziker of Brule N.S,
which was a small community that was located to
the north of Halifax. He would have drowned.
Hanna Huziker called the firefighters to help her
rescue her dearly loved pig, which lives in a
separate garage on her property. The garage was
all flooded with snowmelt which made a river on
her property, which was in part because of how
the road and driveway was plowed. The
firefighters from the Tatamagouche Fire
Department responded to her, and got a rope
around Pourquoi and rescued the pig by pulling it

around Pourquoi and rescued the pig by pulling it out of

the garage. That wasnt the end. They still had to move
Pourqoui out through the water that was surrounding the
garage, and also had to climb a six-foot snowbank so
Pourqoui could get to dry land. It wasnt easy for
anybody, Firefigher Mark Langille said. The distance
between the house and garage is about 140 metres, says
Langille. He didnt want to go. He did a lot of squealing,
said Langille. Huziker said that she felt helpless about the
ordeal. Huziker said that her husband died last year and
that this is her first winter alone. Hanna is also recovering
from surgery and she isnt back in 100 percent strength.
An excavator came on Sunday and it dug a trench, which
allowed the water on the property to drain. The water also
came within a few feet of Hunzikers house. She said that
if was warmer yesterday or it had rained, and then she
would have had to leave the house with her pets. Pourqoui
usually lives in the garage because Hunziker has a dog, and
they both need to be separated. Just for now, Porqoui is
back in the house, but in a separate room from the dog.
He is probably saying Merci.

SPORTING NEWS
Sixth Grade Boy Strikes it Rich from an ESPN Contest
Twelve-year-old boy, Sam Holtz,
shockingly guessed a perfect bracket for
the ESPN March Madness Bracket
Challenge. March Madness is a famous
college basketball tournament in which
the audience can participate by trying to
guess who wins and who loses. ESPN is a
sports analysis company that had set up
an official contest regarding this minigame. The person who submitted the
closest guess in the quickest amount of
time would win $20,000. Unlike the other
11.5 million people who studied the

league and then signed up, Sam completely guessed his

bracket. The only issue separating Sam and his money was
that he was not old enough to sign up for the contest in the
first place. He used his dads e-mail and feigned his age.
When ESPN found out about this, they were not sure if they
should give Sam the $20,000 he had won. After two weeks of
deciding, ESPN gave the money to Sam. Sams father put
$10,000 into Sams college fund. Sam decided to donate
$5,000 to the Walt Disney Make-A-Wish foundation. Sams
also bought an Xbox One, and has been invited to Maui to
play in a basketball tournament as a part of the reward.
Throughout all this, it is now easy to see that anything can
happen in the world of sports.
