Take time to go over the schedule for your specific grade level
When explaining the day schedule please inform the students that they will be moving
throughout the day in their advisory groups. Meaning that when the bell rings for passing time,
they have 5 minutes to go out into the hallway and use the restroom, get some water, mingle
with friends, and then head back to their advisory class to move on to the next block.

Lockers: You will get a locker list of your grade level and their locker assignment in your boxes.
That will be coming from Christol Kjome.
Planners and documents: Please hand out planners and the documents that need to be signed
and returned to every student. Please emphasize that these need to be returned back to you
on Wednesday.
Icebreakers/Team building
You will receive a packet of team-building activities to use in your classroom.
Students will come back to advisory in the last 10 minutes of the day to pick up their schedules.
Please communicate this information to your students concerning schedules.

Team Building Block (Athletic Field): Beacons

The YMCA will be engaging staff and students in team building exercises to strengthen
our school community and spirit. The expectation is that teachers participate fully and enjoy the
day. Get to know our students on a different level, be in the moment and use this opportunity
to learn about them and who they are. Please walk with your students out to the football field
in an orderly and brisk manner. With the weather projected to be warm, we will have coolers of
water available for the students and staff.

There will be 10 stations on the field led by YMCA staff, volunteers, and teachers who do not
have an advisory. Beacons staff will separate students and teachers into groups as they enter
the field. Each station will be clearly marked by a sign.

Last 10 minutes of the day in Advisory

Schedules: Have the students look over their schedules and be sure to reference the key points
below. Students that have any issues should go to the counseling office this week. Remember
only send two students at a time and they must have the orange pass you will find in your box.
Students can only get schedule changes for these reasons:
1.Two classes in the same period
2.No class scheduled for a period
3.Two of the same class
4.Missing a core class ( English, Math, Social Studies, science)
