Heard and Observed at Spring Show and Sale
Membership Many have not been renewed for the year. Remember being a state member
gives you a break on registration fees and allows you to show at Canton Shows. If you need to
send this in do so today you can print out the membership form from the state website. Dont
wait, spring work will start soon!!
Charlene Main Memorial Scholarship Junior members if you are a high school senior or
current college student you are eligible to apply for this scholarship. You must own at least 1
Brown Swiss and be a state youth member ($5) to qualify. Write a one page essay on any
relevant topic and e-mail to Teri Martin (teritdog@gmail.com) by August 1, 2015.
Calf Sale 4 young Brown Swiss calves averaged $1700. Will work towards having more calves
next year as there appears to be many buyers interested in buying swiss.
Semen Sale Silent auction generated $338 to be used for our youth programs. Allen Bassler
and family from Virginia donated a cheese basket which sold to Barry Sparling from PA for $115
also for our junior members. A BIG THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO DONATED SEMEN, THE
BASSLER FAMILY AND THE BUYERS.

Elite Dairy, Ken Main and Pete Vail donated 5 straws of Bonanza semen which sold for
$150/straw to be used by our State Association.

99 head of Brown Swiss were placed by Judge Chip Savage from Maryland. Cattle came from
PA., VA, MD, OH, MA, VT, FL and NY. Grand Champion was the same cow who won last years
show Get-R-Done Braiden Gigi, owned by Don Harwood and Glamourview from PA. Gigis
Tanbark daughter, a summer yearling was named junior champion. Reserve grand champion
was a 5 year old owned by Cindy Warner from Maryland. Kyle Barton showed the Grand
Champion of the youth show. Elite Dairy was named Premier Breeder and Exhibitor. Complete
