Activity: Heart to Heart

Equipment Needed: Card, scissors, marker pen
Activity Description:
1. Draw around a heart template and cut them out. Then write down on each heart
the name of a famous lover and their partners name is written on another heart.
2. The cards are placed name side up so all can see and then match up the pairs. This
game can also be placed with the names facing the table so the clients turn them
over 2 at a time to find the partner. This way they have to remember where the
partner card is placed.
3. This game can played from 2 to 6 people by allowing each one of them to play
one at a time, and determine how many pairs they get within a time limit.
4. The objective of this game is to match up the pairs; for example Romeo- Juliet

Leadership Considerations:
1. When working with participants with Parkinsons disease if they are still able to
use tools such as scissors, let them cut out around the heart. If they are able to
write allow them to fill out the names on the back of the hearts.
2. When working with participants with Alzheimers disease, this game can be
adapted by increasing the time that they can look at the cards and the amount of
time they pick it up to review the names. Another way it can become more
challenging if more hearts and names are added. Depending on the capabilities of
the clients this can be manipulated.
