Characteristics / achievements
Metal working skills, first real civilization.
Tribal organization, early form of agriculture.
They left: roads, sites of important cities (i.e. London), and seeds of
Christianity. Also, The Latin way of life villas, arts, language and political
organization (later vanished).
Easily converted to Christianity. They were brought with learning and
civilization by the preachers from Rome. Their Kingdoms were reunited
under Egbert.
First raided England, to plunder it, later they began to win wide lands to
plough and rule.
Danish rule. King Canute finally managed to unite the Angle-Saxons and
the Danes.
Invaders from Europe, of Viking blood.

*The term Dane refers to those who inhabited the Jutland peninsula and were part of the broad term Viking.
Therefore Danes were the Viking population who invaded England.
*They were themselves of Viking blood.
