This e-portfolio documents the student's growth in analyzing and explaining symbolism in American literature and poetry through their American Literature course. The course covered works from 1865 to present day and helped the 27-year old mother of four develop an appreciation for American authors and literature, gaining knowledge and perspective they would not have had otherwise due to their busy schedule.

The purpose of this E-Portfolio is to professionally display my growth in writing, analyzing, evaluating and explaining the symbolism in American literacy and poetry. This course is here to help students better understand and develop an appreciation for American Literature and the Authors from the end of Civil War in 1865 to the present day. I am a 27 year old mother of four that is taking on the challenge of slowly working towards an Associates in Arts degree until I figure out what Im going to major in. I admit, with my busy schedule I dont do much reading on my spare time. This course has given me an appreciation for American Literature and the Authors something that I would have never had without taking this course.
