As a teacher, my goal is to foster a learning environment for students that is welcoming.

Id like students to learn to express their ideas freely, appreciate themselves, and respect one
another. Students will always come in a range of different personalities, learning styles, and
backgrounds, so providing such an environment is key to tapping into every childs full potential.
An environment where students arrival to an answer is valued is important to having
students express their ideas. With use of Piagets theory, I will always encourage students to
know that their way of thinking holds much more value than their answer. I will never be
dismissive in their thinking styles and support them to raise their self-confidence as students.
My goal for students is to also build that confidence through teaching themselves. Having
students self-discover knowledge that they can relate to will cause them to value their learning
and feel a sense of ownership. Teachers being strictly the facilitators only does so much. With
Vygotsky in mind, I will always develop lessons that tap into their unique backgrounds and
interests.
I believe learning can be taught right and made concrete for students if taught at
appropriate rates. Like Piaget, I do not think students learning should be accelerated, I think it
should be fostered with care and patience.
My highest goal as a teacher is to make students love learning. I would like students to
self-discover in and outside of the classroom. To find excitement in new knowledge and to be
afraid of taking risks in their learning.
