I believe all students are unique learners who need a learning environment that can cater

to each individuals learning style. As an educator, I would like to provide that for students to
reach their maximum potential. These principles can help foster a great learning environment for
any child in a mathematics classroom.
Holding high expectations is important in order to give all students the same
opportunities to learn. These students need support along side the high expectations and not left
to sink or swim. Equity is a key principle for all students to receive a high quality education.
The curriculum must be administered to students in an organized manner. Students
foundational skills must be put in place in order for them to reach higher grounds in
mathematics. We must also connect these foundational concepts to their real world. The
curriculum principle will provide guidance for both the teacher and students to achieve a
successful classroom environment.
Before teachers can effectively teach, they must know the content well. This will help
planning a challenging and supportive curriculum. The teachers concrete knowledge over math
will allow to teach the content with meaning instead of algorithm.
Allowing time for useful assessment should always be in use in the learning environment.
This allows for both students and teachers to realign their objectives. Teachers benefit from
seeing where their lesson needs improvement and students will be assisted in settings goals and
becoming more independent learners.
As an educator, I hope to get students excited about math and learn to have fun with it.
Hopefully, to change their perspective and help them see that it is an integral part of their
education.
