The Sumer:Mesopotamia

Mesopotamia was an amazing accomplishment of the

sumerian people.Sumeria was also known as Sumer. The
sumerian were the first people to migrate or as we say
travel to what was known as Mesopotamia then, they
created a civilization. The wheel, plow, and writing which if you
dont know is a system we call cuneiform
The word Mesopotamia comes from Greek words and
means land between the rivers.

Mesopotamia was considered the beginning of the

civilization. It is said that when you first see Mesopotamia it
does not look like an ideal place for a civilization to
flourish
Mesopotamias climate was very hot and dry.Their
was very little rainfall in lower Mesopotamia. There was an
annual flooding in Mesopotamia. The annual flood brought
silt which made the soil very rich. That was why

Mesopotamia was part of the Fertile Crescent.

Mesopotamian polytheism was the only religion in

Ancient Mesopotamia for thousand of years before
entering another period of gradual
decline
- a gradual
continuous loss of strength,numbers,quality,or value-.The
decline happened during the 1st and 3rd centuries. Many

aspects
- a particular part or feature of something- of the
common practices
intricacies

taught by a church, political party,or other group- have been

The land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers was a
good region for agriculture. The environment of
mesopotamia brought great challenges to the people living
there.Tigris and Euphrates rivers are in southwest Asia. They
start in mountains of present day Turkey,Kurdistan. They
flow southeast through present day Iraq to Persian
Gulf. The rivers provided water and means for travel. The area
had few roads,so boats carried heavy loads on the river
currents.The climate was
semiarid
.They had hot summers
and less than 10 inches of annual rainfall.Crops grew in
this dry region because of the rivers. There were many

farming villages across southern Mesopotamia by

4000B.C.
The Mesopotamian basin was the birthplace of
writing. The Sumerians invented the first writing system
called
cuneiform.
-denoting or relating to the ancient
writing systems of Mesopotamia-Cuneiform script is on
