I am so happy to be back doing what I

love. I missed the math environment and

interaction with students when I was home.
Now that I am a mom, I have learned
to prepare for my classes one day at a
time. Teaching part-time is such a blessing,
because I am able to spend time with
wonderful students in the morning and play
all afternoon with my son. I love the bond I
have with my son. The love is unexplainable

PSAT and SAT week comes with little worry

By: Stacy Thompson & Katie Wright

Worry Free PSAT. Although

there was some strange wording
in the questions, I thought the
PSAT was really easy. I didnt
have to worry too much because
its not an actual grade for my
report card
-Victoria Teague, 10.

Crushing The SAT. This is

my second time taking the
SAT, so I didnt have to study
that much. It was so easy
this time around. We were in
there from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
on Saturday, so I had to
nothing else to do for the rest
of the day after it took up my
morning - Travis Wiley, 12.
Unprepared & Without A
Care. The English section
of the PSAT was a lot harder
than I thought, but thats okay
because this just shows me what
I need to work on. Then again,
I didnt prepare for it at all, and
so I didnt know how to get the
correct answer
-Harris Tuck, 10.

I am extremely honored and humbled to be

chosen as Teacher of the Month, because
my peers see me as an admirable person.
I wanted to be a teacher to positively
impact the lives of kids. I teach with a
structured style and emphasize discipline
in the classroom. In my twenty six years of
teaching, I have learned that bad things
might happen, but the next day always
offers a new start - Bryan Holley, Physical

To cope with being a teacher and a

new dad, I have been functioning on a
lack of sleep. Occasionally, I will get
home from work and immediately take
an nap. During the school day, I try
my best to get all of my work done at
school, so I can spend all my time with
Amelia. My favorite part about being
a new dad is getting to dress her up in
cute, little hats - Graham Ingram, Math.

Alex Wahoski, 11.

Robert Shelton, 9.

As the age of technology increases, so does the influx of new devices

within the upcoming generation. Apple released the IPhone 6, which
according to Freshman Robert Shelton, Its a ton faster and comes with
really cool texting features. Sophomore Jennifer St. Martin is a firm
supporter of Samsung and believes, Samsung gets all the new stuff
quicker. Most of my friends have Apple, but anyone who switches to
Samsung knows that its better. Junior Shawn Spivey dislikes Apple,
saying,Im more for Android. It has a bigger screen than all Apple
Phones. Android user Junior Alex Wahoski begs to differ, I plan on
getting an Iphone soon because my Android is no longer doing its job and
the Iphones always seem to last longer. Freshman Elisa White has already
placed an order to receive her new phone. Whether excited or not, it is
clear that the IPhone 6 will unveil a new generation of connectivity.

Cold Weather Concerts

Chorus & Band present their fall ensembles

By: Stacy Thompson & Katie Wright

Focus in uproar. This was my first chorus concert solo in

high school and I was a little nervous when I went up on
stage. I didnt make any facial expressions, I looked straight
ahead trying not to look at anyone in the face. When I heard
the roar of the crowd, it put me in a good place. I practiced
during class and at home by myself to get comfortable with
the song. It was the first time my mom heard me sing and she
was really surprised- Reginald McEaddy,12.

Do The Muscle

Being in the band bunch. Ive been playing the tuba for six
years and enjoy being in band. The whole band practiced for
six weeks to get ready for the concert. My favorite song to play
was The Lion King. I never get nervous for concerts because
with being involved in sports, the nerves dont really bother
me- Collin Gibson, 10.

Exploring a whole new world

Who wouldnt love to dance for

their peers as extra credit? Seniors
Adia Turner and Nick Powell took
advantage of the entertaining task.
Powell explained, There was a
booklet that had a dance, a cheer, a
song, and a pledge that we had to
do. We had the choice of performing
the dance at lunch for extra credit,
and I really enjoyed getting to be a
part of it, even though I messed up. It
was pretty easy to learn, but when I
actually did it, I realized I was doing
the wrong moves. I was just dancing
so confidently doing the wrong moves,
so I looked silly, but Id still do it again
in a heartbeat. Turner stated,
Several of my peers have C
lunch with me, and I enjoyed getting
to dance for them. I wasnt scared
or embarrassed either because I
had seen the other seniors dance
throughout my years, and it felt like
a right of passage. The routine was
easy and fun to learn, especially
since I have rhythm, and honestly, I
was really surprised that so many of
us found the nerve to get up there
especially since it was optional
-Nick Powell, 12.

Valuable objectives. It is always exciting for the 9th graders

to have their first concert and they did really well. To prepare,
we did lot of assessing what strengths and weakness are
and pick music that reinforces the strengths and nurture the
weaknesses. My favorite pieces were from the selections of the
Lion King, and the kids really enjoyed playing it
-Mr. Jack Jean, Band Director.
Veteran Violinist. My first violin solo was in 7th grade and
this year I got the opportunity to perform by myself again.
Ive played for four years and was in orchestra during
middle school. Mr. Prouty knew I played and stopped the
middle of the chorus class to tell me I was performing. I had
no hesitation about playing in front of all the people, even
though I like singing better -Mariah McCastle, 9.

Clubs enjoy Perry County Fair

They are President and Vice President of
Skills USA, competitors in state and regional
competitions, participants in job interviews,
speeches, and car repairs, and the first girl interns
of Auto Shop. These two best friends put in a lot
of hard work for Skills USA. Seniors Ashley Porter
and Rachel Kafka rewarded their dedication to this
club by having a good time at the Perry County
Fair. Upon arrival, they went to an assembly where
motivational speakers talked about achieving goals.
Overall it was really cheesy, but it sent out an
inspirational message, and it was cool to watch one
of the speakers rip a phone book in half, recalled
Kafka.
After the encouraging speech, the real fun began.
Every year we make it a priority to go on every
single ride. Even though Logan Powers is the only
person in our group who hates the fair, we still make
him
get on every ride with us because its
hilarious to watch him get sick,
said Kafka.
Saving the best for last, they got to
their favorite ride, the Stinger. It goes upside
down and spins around really fast which was
insane, terrifying, but really fun! Exclaimed Porter.
Appreciating a day out of the school building, the
fair weather and amusing rides was the perfect way
to end a long week.

OUT

This past April,

my father went
into a diabetic
coma and seeing
him on the verge
of death made
me wonder
what this life is
about. It made
me question
what really
matters in life,
what were doing
here, and why?
Being there for
someone when
they need it the
most, being that
one person who
doesnt give up
on them - thats
what really
matters. I want
to be there for
people when
theyre at their
lowest point.
I want to be a
helping hand.

I visited China for ten days on a mission trip with my church.

Because every year students from China come visit us, this year we
decided to go see them. I am so glad I got to go, because China is
so different from America and I also got to see all my friends. My
favorite thing we did was when we visited the panda park. There were
pandas there as young as two months old; it was so cool
