Ed 407 Final
New agents of learning will help shape the future of learning by assuming
new roles that contribute to the expansion and redefinition of the education
profession and its relationships to, and roles in, community life. Here are five
possible roles that could emerge in education by the year 2025.
Assessment Designer
The future of assessment could rely heavily on the work of assessment
design and consulting firms. These firms would develop assessment portfolios for
schools, non-profits, learning centers, industry associations and large companies.
These performance-based assessments will be ideal for evaluating and
communicating learner performance across different settings in ways that are
transparent and easily understood. Assessment Designers will create diverse
assessments that require students to develop strategies using tools such as online
gaming, design and software.
The need for more diverse learning environments is a trend that will push the
development of assessment designers in the future world of education.
Community Intelligence Cartographer
A community Intelligence Cartographer would build and map resource webs
that strengthen regional learning ecosystems. They would work with public,
private, and community boundaries to cultivate diverse relationships and asset-
Lack of funding and a declining economy are two of the current trend that
would spark the interest in development of an eduvator in the future.
Learning Fitness Instructor
A learning fitness instructor would keep minds in shape by working with
learners to build and strengthen their cognitive, emotional, and social capacities.
Exercises like simulations, biofeedback, mindfulness techniques, software-based
games and hands-on activities to help learners reduce stress and develop their
cognitive muscles.
A variety of settings including schools, home-based learning programs,
community learning centers, and public youth programs will be used to teach
fitness plans and how to minimize distractions that get in the way of learning.
Busy schedules, an increase in after school activities, and excessive
diagnoses of A.D.D and A.D.H.D in children are some current trends that might
put this profession on the future job market.
Learning Journey Mentor
A learning journey mentor would form the backbone of the learning system
by guiding kids in working through their learning experiences. They would help
learners connect with people, resources, and activities that can propel them along
their chosen learning pathways.
