Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - RN-BSN Option


The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - RN-BSN Option has been designed for the Registered Nurse who
already has an ASN degree or a diploma in nursing and desires a higher level degree. Students in the RN-BSN
Option are RNs who want to expand their career and education options. This program prepares the RN to function
at a professional level and to be a qualified candidate for graduate education.
The RN-BSN Option is offered at three locations Main campus (Harrogate), Cedar Bluff (Knoxville), and Baptist
Health Corbin (Corbin, KY).
The RN-BSN Option will:
Prepare the baccalaureate nurse as a generalist, caring for individuals, families, community groups, and society at
any point on the wellness-illness continuum.
Provide RN-BSN Option students with an opportunity for career mobility for the associate degree and diploma
educated Registered Nurse.
Provide a foundation for continued education in nursing.

The baccalaureate undergraduate degree program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Furthermore,
the baccalaureate undergraduate degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in
Nursing, Inc. (ACEN). ACEN is officially recognized as a national accrediting agency for nursing education by the
Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and by the U.S. Department of Education. ACEN may be

an ASN from an accredited institution, and must have completed LMUs RN to BSN general education
requirements, or the equivalents of.
