MODE AND MEDIAN GAMES ARE SUITED TO
PLAYERS WHO ARE JUST LEARNING THE CONCEPTS OF MEAN, MEDIAN AND MODE. THE MEAN GAME IS AIMED AT SLIGHTLY MORE ADVANCED PLAYERS.
HOW TO PLAY:
Shuffle the cards and out 7 cards per player.
Note: the Ace will be replaced by a 1 in this game. A minimum of four players is required per game. Pick one of the games below that is most suited to your learning level. Choose which game you would like to play: Mean: Each player finds the total value of digits on their cards, then divide the total by 7 to find the mean (average). Be sure to round all numbers to the nearest whole number. Your score is the mean score calculated. Use a pen and paper to work out calculations, if necessary use a calculator. Record each players score, continue this process until you have a winner. The player who is the first to get 21 is the winner of the game. Median: Each player finds the median (middle) card, that number is the score for that round. Repeat the dealing of 7 cards until you find a winner. The winner is the first person to reach a score of 21. Mode: each player finds the mode (most common) in their hand of cards. The score is recorded and the next hand is dealt. Players continue this process until the winner reaches a score of 21. If there is 2 modes then those figures will be both of the players score. How to calculate: Mean (average) = add all of the cards together and divide by the number of cards. I.e. 5+3+5+4= 17 174= 4.25 which when rounded to w whole number equals to 4. Median (middle number) = place all of the cards in numerical order from smallest to largest. The middle number of this groups is the median. Mode (most common number) = look at the group of cards and find the cards that have the same number on it. The one with the most is the mode.
