4.1 Title: End preparation of Optical Fiber Cable using different tools.
4.2 Objective:
On completion of this visit/ practical exercise, the participant will be able to:
a) Understand the requirement of end preparation of OF cable for proper
splicing.
b) Prepare the end of OF cable for splicing.
4.2 Venue/Site: Training Center.
[*In training locations where the required equipment / set-up is not available, the
same will be carried out through field visit
4.3 Set up/Equipments Required:
a) OF Tool Kit
b) OF Cable.

4.5.1 Prepare the one end of optical fiber cable using the suitable tools and write
down the steps to carry out end preparation?

Precautions:

Fiber pieces are very sharp, be careful, should not pierce into eyes or skin.
Dispose of all scraps properly.
Always use a properly marked container to dispose of Fibre
Always work on a black pad which makes the slivers of glass easier to spot.
Do not dispose of fibre on the floor where they will stick in carpets or shoes
and be carried elsewhere.
Fiber pieces are very sharp, be careful, should not pierce into eyes or skin.
Buffer tubes or fibers should not get kinked during sheath removal procedure
Some tools are sharped. Be careful to prevent injuries.
While using the fiber stripper, keep red dot mark top side.

Note: Participants must be taken to field whenever actual fault restoration work is
carried out in field
