I have known
Christina for two years as her professor in the Single Subject Credential Program at Dominican University.
She is an extremely talented and knowledgeable credential candidate in a subject area that requires high
performing practitioners: World Languages.
In her teaching demonstrations, Christina has impressed me with her clever and innovative approaches.
Her
lessons are multi-faceted, as she incorporates technology, visual literacy, interactive components, and student
centered pedagogy.
For example, when teaching a reading strategy, she used images from a Spanish-speaking
country that guided the students in producing phrases in Spanish for both oral and written use.
entered their work through an app that allowed Christina to project them on a screen.
approach was palpable, as students shared and gave feedback on each others work.
The students
cultural anthropology is an asset, as many of the world language standards encourage the use of cultural
information to teach language.
Christina is very thorough in all of her work and asks intelligent questions in order to do a task correctly.
is a skillful writer, a seasoned traveler, and brings her life experiences to bear in her work with children.
She
She
is devoted to the idea of doing right by children and sending them into their futures well educated and ready to
face challenges.
She would be an asset to any faculty and will work hard to facilitate learning at any level.
Sincerely,
Kate McDougall
