I am writing to apply for the position of Second Grade Teacher at School of North Carolina. I
love working with children in all capacities and this position is a very good fit for me because of
my experience and background.
First, my work experiences make me a great fit for this position. My five years as a teacher
assistant in first and second grade have enabled me to practice teaching under the tutelage of my
lead teachers, giving me an insight into the world of teaching. My four years as a secretarial
assistant have sharpened my administrative skills within the office environment. Not only do I
enjoy keeping things well-organized, but this position taught me how to maintain an organized
office. Moreover, as a camp counselor for four summers and as an after school counselor, I have
learned to be flexible and to deal with multiple issues at the same time. It has also improved my
creative leadership skills through leading group activities and songs. Camp counseling also
sharpened my skills at helping others with their problems and questions. Helping children with
homework has helped me to become better at tutoring and explaining problems in different ways.
Second, my academic background also well prepares me to serve as a first grade teachers
assistant. As an English major, I acquired the communication skills essential for this position.
Furthermore as both a student and secretarial assistant I have experience with computer
applications (such as Microsoft Office) and computer equipment (including but not limited to
printers, copiers, and scanners). Not only do I know computers well, but I learn new computer
skills quickly.
