Career School Philadelphia, PA Dear Dr. Lund, As I was doing an online job search, I came across with one of your job openings. I am very interested in applying for the English as Second Language Position your school district is offering. As a recent graduate of Arizona State University in the ESL/Bilingual program, I believe I have achieved the knowledge and the skills required for this position. During my time in Arizona State University I: Participated in two different studying abroad programs, one in Argentina and one in Spain. These two programs gave me not only the knowledge but the multicultural experience that is always required for a classroom, especially in an ESL mainstream. Interned as an ESL tutor/instructor for a local association, Tumbleweed Association for Youth Development. In this internship I had the opportunity to work with 15-18 year old students developing my communication and teamwork skills. Before enrolling to ASU, I had studied ESL in my native country, Mexico, and Canada as well. ASU might have given me the skills and techniques as teacher, but being an ESL student gave the student perspective which at the end is every teachers ultimate goal, fulfill the students needs in order for them to succeed. I also worked as an English as Second Language in Arizona Western College for two years. I am now looking two combine and exercise the amount of experiences I have gained throughout this learning process. My personal, work and academic achievements in the ESL field make me a competent candidate for this position.
