Dear Dr. Lund,
As I was doing an online job search, I came across with one of your job openings. I am
very interested in applying for the English as Second Language Position your school
district is offering. As a recent graduate of Arizona State University in the ESL/Bilingual
program, I believe I have achieved the knowledge and the skills required for this
position.
During my time in Arizona State University I:
Participated in two different studying abroad programs, one in Argentina and one
in Spain. These two programs gave me not only the knowledge but the
multicultural experience that is always required for a classroom, especially in an
ESL mainstream.
Interned as an ESL tutor/instructor for a local association, Tumbleweed
Association for Youth Development. In this internship I had the opportunity to
work with 15-18 year old students developing my communication and teamwork
skills.
Before enrolling to ASU, I had studied ESL in my native country, Mexico, and Canada as
well. ASU might have given me the skills and techniques as teacher, but being an ESL
student gave the student perspective which at the end is every teachers ultimate goal,
fulfill the students needs in order for them to succeed. I also worked as an English as
Second Language in Arizona Western College for two years.
I am now looking two combine and exercise the amount of experiences I have gained
throughout this learning process. My personal, work and academic achievements in the
ESL field make me a competent candidate for this position. If you have any question or
require more information about myself do not hesitate to contact me through profesional
portfolio where you can find my contact information. I hope to hear soon from you and
thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jorge Llamas
