Subject of my paper: Aerospace Engineering
Purpose: My Major and why writing about this topic will be beneficial to me: This research paper will be
beneficial to me not only because the topic is relative to what I am majoring in, but it will also allow me to
get an idea of the discourse communities within the topic of aerospace engineering, how does the field
look right now, and get a good understanding of what engineering companies are looking for in college
students.
Preliminary Thesis/Argument: While space exploration becomes an ever so increasingly discussed topic
in today's society, there are some aspects which are a little less talked about in the field of aerospace
technology. I will be discussing and analyzing What is the best way college students should prepare for
the workforce? And, how the engineering field is now and what the future of the engineering field is going
to look like. Are prospective college engineers going to get the dream job they are looking for?
Intended audience: The intended audience is primarily anyone who is getting started or thinking about
going into aerospace engineering, but the overall audience will get a brief analysis in the restrictions and
issues going on in todays aerospace technology as well as discuss some of the different groups joined by
discourse communities working together to overcome these obstacles, and finally learn what it takes to
become part of this field with the expectations and roles of an internship.
Types of research areas: For this research paper I will be using two types of research areas which include
Internet, as well as scholarly. Internet resources will be primarily for researching discourse communities
and internship opportunities, while scholarly will be focused on the history of aeronautics as well as
current even articles to target recent issues.
Kinds of sources I will use and why they will benefit my paper: My sources will be well balanced between
internet and scholarly resources. The scholarly sources will vary from history books to recently published
news articles all in effort to give the audience the best understanding of what aerospace engineering has
come from and how it will continue to change the world.
Graphs or charts:Graphs and charts will be used where necessary throughout my research paper but only
if they truly add to the audiences understanding of the subject.
Documentation Style: The documentation style of this research paper will be MLA. This is because it is
my most familiar and comfortable style of writing for myself.
